  This is a very nice open work iron tsuba that would have been spectacular in its day. Lots of gold and silver zogan is missing with the typical hand cross-hatching in the steel to hold the zogan on. Very well cut shell design with what I think is a lanyard hole for battle???3 cm tall by 1 cm wide nakago-ana opening. This was used as a katana tsuba but could go for a wakizashi also. Very nice iron tsuba that is un-repaired and at least 150 years old.
