  This is a very nice Kiku Gata design Japanese tsuba. I would date it somewhere late 17th century to early 18th century. Nakago Ana is 3cm tall by 1 cm wide or 1 3/16 tall by 3/8 inch wide. This tsuba has some rust damage at the top but does not hurt the appearance; rust is stablized and this is a hand chisseled iron tsuba not cast... This tsuba has Sekigane fillers on top and bottom. I would use this as a wakizashi tsuba; but could be used for a early period katana. Mumei and no indications of old mei.
