  Back in early 2000's I bought from all over the world; I bought many sapphire rough parcels from all over Africa through Hilmar Bosch. The Nigerian material was a lovely blue gem but after cutting many from other locations I did not care for the saturated blue as many do. I sold a lot of this material as many like a darker blue than I do. I have gone back to that bag of rough and cut a few more. They are a lovely rich blue and most are very clean. Even after being heated they are just a deep royal blue. This is a fine example of that color; not black but rich blue and you really can not cut large stones as the larger the stone the darker the stone. This gem was cut from a 5.3 carat piece of rough bought in 2002. It has been heated by my friend in Sri Lanka. I think if you like rich colors this will be a fine gem for you; for a ring or pendant. I know my Mom loved the richer colored gems and I have sold hundreds to the trade; it is all just personal preference and do not let others tell you what to buy; buy what you like as it is your money.
