  This material was cut by me from my rough i got from the late Dave Cordry. He was a Intarsia cutter and designer and also a financial guru. He did not want his investment back in cash form the Wessel's mine but he wanted the heart of the Sugilite... I met him in his last years as i enjoyed hearing his WW2 tales he really was kind to me and allowed me to buy some of his better material; gel caps and of course all the 7 to 8 different grades of sugilite and other fine intarsia cabochon type rough. All these old timers are gone now and I am becoming one of them. Oh how things come full circle in this life... In any case this is his C grade mottled or figured sugilite; it has about a 40% gel content per his suggestions in grading this material to me. I kept all his notes on polishing, sorting, grading, etc. as he knew much more than I did on this mineral. I have just started cutting it this year. I guess 20 years in the vault is long enough to wait. I will not cut the gel caps and 80% gel until I am comfortable with how to work the mineral. Thankfully I asked the right questions to Dave and he was willing to share his secrets on polishing this beast.
