See Video Early shinto period wakizashi mid 1700's Ubu mumei nakago, sugha/midare hamon pattern, hada will be determined with jizuya finger stone work it will be a tight hada. 51.5 cm nagasa or a little over 20 inch cutting edge, 1.4 cm sori or curve of blade, 6.8 mm thickness at ha machi,( polished a couple of times before I got it) 2.75 cm wide at ha machi, full turn back hamon in boshi, original 2 piece gold washed habaki and original saya I added a sterling silver collar at throat of saya for strength added a kunikata that was missing on saya, took saya apart and cleaned and re-glued. Hard rock maple tsuka made by me. Copper period fuchi and kashira with chicken motif , nice iron rustic design tsuba also period. The blade I got from my Japanese sword collector contact; it was seriously rusted and 2 chips removed. I bought the blade in 2018. Went through all 5 stones, arato 80 grit, then Binsui, Kassei-do, chu nagura, koma nagura, and uchigumori, then one pass with hazuya finger stone. Also put in a cosmetic yokote line as this blade did not have a cut in geometric yokote line and if it did not have one when I get it; I do not put them in as I am a minimalist. I just straighten out the lines , remove chips and rust and all scratches from previous stones. I have been doing this over 18 years and have polished over 75 blades some went back to Japan and were papered. I only wrap my own handles as if I choose blue they wanted red, if I choose red they want black; so I leave that up to the new caretaker. If you purchase this or any of my blades that have not been tsukamaki (wrapped) ask and I will find you a pair of menuki in my inventory as I was a furniture collector before I started the long journey of shitaji togi which is basic foundation polish. I have also art polished about 22 blades from naginata to katana, tanto, yari, etc. but at this time I have over 65 blades all in shitaji togi foundation polish and I do not have the time to do that part, I still make my living cutting gemstones, this has been my 18+ year hobby and now I am tired of oiling and maintaining all these historical blades. enjoy, bare with me on my photography skills on these blades, it took me some time to get the hang of taking pictures to show what my eyes see, much like with gemstones, there is a trick to it and I am still learning....
