See video- Late shinto period wakizashi , 39.2 cm or 15.4 inch nagasa, 7.2 mm thickness at ha machi, 2.9 cm width of blade at ha machi, 1.2 cm sori or curve in blade, wide sugha-midare hamon pattern, hada will be determined after jizuya fingerstone work but will be a very tight hada., no flaws at all...original saya and brass habaki, saya is nice and needs a little tlc but very solid or I would have made a new one. Hard rock maple tsuka made by me, period Iron fuchi and kashira that are matching. This blade has been polished very little due to the thickness of the nakago at or near mune machi in relation to the body of the blade at mune machi. I can see it will be a very fine specimen of a traditionally made wakizashi, clean and well balanced, no forging flaws at all... just a very nice blade. It did not have any chips but it was covered in light rust so I had to do all 5 stones but started with 120 grit instead of the 80 grit I many times have to used on deep rust and chipped ha. This is a shitaji togi or complete foundation polish. Fingerstone work will be next, hazuya then jizuya , I did cut in a cosmetic yokote line as this blade did not have the geometic cut in line and me being the minimalist I was taught to be; I put it back like I got it... Plus in my humble opinion the dramatic cut in ones weakens the tip and in reality these are made for battle and that is what I take them back to. All you need is some same and ito and tsukamaki this bad boy and she will be a lovely piece to own. If you p[urchase this blade from me let me know and I will search my furniture inventory and find you a pair of menuki. It is not hard to do tsukamaki, I have done over 20 handles, I also have done art polish on over 20 blades also, but I have 60+ blades in foundation finished polish with tsuka made, saya made, habaki made, etc. and just do not have the time to art polish or wrap them all, I cut gems for a living, this is just my elaborate hobby :) more photos to come as it just takes time to go over each blade and give details that one may want... Bare with me on my photo skills with these blades, I am still on my learning curve...0011
