  I bought this material back in the 1990's when I just got started cutting faceted gems. My buddies talked me into buying all this synthetic material to learn on but I just started cutting the natural stuff. This was labeled alexandrum synthetic color change corundum but I have never gotten it to change colors on any light source so I am saying it is very fine purple synthetic corundum. It will make a very intense and stunning gem. Whomever gets it tell me if you ever got it to change colors as I have cut natural Alexandrite and hydrothermal russian synthetic alexandrite and they really changed colors.
