Notes:
This piece was mined by my past friend Terry Ledford. Terry and I were friends along with his brother for over 25 years. Terry died in a mine collapse in Hiddenite NC several years ago mining emeralds. I got this big piece from him and he mined it from the Grassy Creek Mine in Spruce Pine NC back in the early 1990's. I did not collect specimens from Terry just minerals I could facet. He said there were clean sections in this big piece and told me the best way to separate other than the saw which you can not see if you are cutting through a clean piece or not. So I did what he told me and separated the clusters. This is just one of the sections, There are clean areas in this but it will take time to remove the good from the no so good. Have fun. I did... Very fine blue color from that mine near the school in Spruce Pine, NC. You can use it as a specimen or to try and cut the clean pieces...
