  I bought this and many others from a mineral specimen dealer back in 2002. It has a rind of this orangey brown but when you start cutting it removes the skin to a very lovely pink red color. I have cut this material from Peru and South Africa and they both make awesome gems that can fetch over 150 a carat with no issues. The biggest one I have cut was over 9 carats and it fetched 2400 dollars as yes they are that rare .. And this one will cut a fine gem; you may have to make up your own design to save weight and that is what I did, a elongated pear brilliant. So yes there is plenty of meat on the bone for good profit on any of my rough... All photos of rough taken in full sun on white paper.
