  This gem was cut by me from a 11.3 carat piece of rough I got in 1998 from Hilmar Bosch. We went in together on a 1/4 kilo of this lovely material. It is what they used to call Siberian royal purple amethyst named after material that came from Russia back prior to the 1940's. It was a intense and royal saturated purple many with red or blue flash and some with both. Names change but this lovely color is still rare in the amethyst world. No treatments. Sadly they do not respond to brilliant cuts as they just go dark and do not show that intense purple, so I am limited to cut these in step cuts... I am trying to keep many gems in calibrated sizes if I can without losing too much weight as I know the cost to build a custom mount is not cheap these days. 11 x 9 mount
