  This gem was cut by me and heated by me. The material was a very saturated purple amethyst. I knew it would be black as a faceted gem so I was playing with treatments back then 2001; so I gave it a try. It did lighten the body color before it went to this rick orange reddish color. It is stable as I have had it cut in the safe since then.. No change at all. It will make a nice pendant gem as I ran out of material after doing the pavilion and therefore a shallow crown...
