  This gem was a faceted gem I bought in the big ruby parcel from Burma in 1997. This gem had a native faceted cut of 4.81 carat and the top needed to be the bottom and the bottom needed to be the top, so the best fix was to flip it and cut it into a cabochon and yes it really looks so much nicer. Very good red color, neon under LW UV light, and I like cabochons when they have intense color and inclusions that would inhibit brilliance from being faceted. This is just a classic look and a very good size for either a man or woman. Basic heat with clarity residues just like all the stones that came from this same parcel that I sent to the labs. Just a nice natural ruby gem.
