  This gem was re-cut by me from a 2.3 carat flat windowed gem bought in 2000. Like stated on the other gems like this one. The trade was all about the "midnight blue" sapphires back then. So I had to buy what they sold and wanted to fit in... This is a very clean gem with basic heat only. It is blue not black; but it is a saturated blue and I had to put a step cut pavilion on all of them as if I put a brilliant cut they would have gone completely black... i do not even see gems like this anymore on the market; I guess they either treat them of the supply ran out ??? In any case it is a very rich blue and if you like those rich colors this is a good one and I cut it calibrated for ease of setting for the trade..
