  I bought this gem back in 2000 to re-cut but after 100x examination there is really nothing my skills can do to make it better than the last cutter did... It is not black but very dark blue; it has silk which keeps light from reflecting inside the gem so basically it is a rich blue gem with no internal light return. Still it is blue and it is a that sultry blue that many like and enjoy. But me as a cutter have the concept if i cannot not make it better I do not remove the material... This cutter did a very good job on the gem; shape is good, table size, etc... So if you like saturated but not black this may be a good cheap alternative for yourself a nice almost 2.5 carat natural sapphire ? Fully tested...
