  This gem was re-cut by me from a cut Nigerian stone I got some 10 years ago. The original weight of this gem was 4.07 carats. I bought a large lot of cut Nigerian tourmalines in all colors several years back that had windows, checkerboard crowns, deep pavilions, etc. as the dealer needed the money and I saw much promise in the stones and they wanted the same price for the cut stones as they wanted for the rough. They had both and had sent these stones to Thailand to have cut and were not happy with the results. I would not have been either but it made a good project for me and my weight loss was much less and I could easily see inside the cut gems. All the gems have been thoroughly tested before I bought them and after re-cutting them. Some took a complete re-cut and some like this one only needed the pavilion. This gem was cut and tested by me. This gem has excellent color and brilliance.
